About the webinar: Organized by VTT through the G-PST Open Data and Tools pillar in collaboration with the EU Mopo project, this webinar provides an introduction to CorRES, a modeling tool designed to generate high-resolution wind and solar time series at continental scale for power and energy system analysis. CorRES uses meteorological inputs, downscaling techniques and stochastic simulation to represent the spatial and temporal correlations that influence system behavior across large geographic areas.

These data support a wide range of studies, including assessments of interregional power flows, resource adequacy, transmission development, operational variability and system flexibility. CorRES can also support multi-decade simulations using long-term climate projections. The tool has been applied in major ENTSO-E studies such as the PECD dataset and is used by system operators, planners and researchers in Europe, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Japan. The code is openly available, and the web interface enables straightforward access for technical users.
